New Building Commissioning
Commissioning is a quality assurance process for buildings through design, construction and operations. It involves achieving, documenting and verifying the performance of each system to meet the building's operational needs within the documented designs and equipment capacities according to the owner's functional criteria. The result of commissioning should be fully functional systems that can be properly oriented and maintained throughout the life of the building.
The commissioning process begins even prior to construction and it chould continue even once the building is occupied. Every building and facility is unique not only in its construction but in its utilization. AMG's commissioning specialists can guide you through the process so that facility manager's can get the meximum use out of their space, equipment and personnel.
EBX (Existing Building Commissioning)

Retro-Commissioning or putting things back to “where they should have been” when systems were originally installed, will not only produce real benefits for the property owner but will save energy as a result.
Air Balancing
HVAC air balancing is the process of measuring the performance of a large or small HVAC for performance. This insures all components of the HVAC system are working in harmony and at their optimum performance. this also ensures you HVAC is in proper working condition.
Having your HVAC air balanced maximize system performance through precision measurements. We test, adjust and balance according to engineers, architects or manufactures rated capacities of your specific equipment.
To provide solutions for equipment that is not performing as it should. To verify your HVAC systems are functioning properly, ensuring that your buildings and homes are safe and energy efficient.
HVAC Air Balancing Reports
When we air balance your HVAC we will only use professional calibrated instruments when working on your projects. Our air balancing reports are factual and unbiased, based upon actual measurements and proven testing procedures. If system performance can not be achieved we will work with you on prescribing the right solutions for you HVAC unit. We will bring delivered performance to your HVAC system with truthful, honest and repeatable testing procedures established by the National Balancing Council, National Balancing Institute, ASHRAE, and the National Comfort Institute.
Water Balancing
A well performed testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) of an HVAC system is essential for the proper performance of that system and can enhance indoor air quality and efficiency. A TAB is the process of checking and adjusting all environmental systems in a building to produce the design objectives. This process includes:
- Balancing air and water distribution systems
- Adjusting the total system to provide design quantities
- Electrical measurement
- Establishing quantitative performance of all equipment
- Verifying automatic control system operation and sequences of operation
- Sound and vibration measurements
LEED Certification
LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is transforming the way we think about how buildings and communities are designed, constructed, maintained and operated across the globe. LEED certified buildings save money and resources and have a positive impact on the health of occupants, while promoting renewable, clean energy.
SAS
Our focus is on achieving peak performance and maintaining HVAC systems, rather than replacing them. This motivated us to develop superior processes and technology to detect and diagnose maintenance problems. This allows us to recommend the best course of action for your system. In order to ensure the best accuracy, we use the Honeywell Service Assistant that quickly and accurately identifies system faults in the field based on the data it collects.
Combustion
Calibrated instruments for all of your balancing and diagnostic projects
Safety is and has always been a passion of ours. Maximizing system performance far beyond most mechanical contractors. This service separates American Mechanical Group, Inc. from all the other mechanical companies.
Combustion Analysis & Carbon Monoxide Safety Certified Testing
Without actually measuring, how could you know what your system is doing and how it is performing?
Measure it. We can measure the combustion process by testing the CO when the flame first ignites, it tells a story. Oxygen content of flue gases tell a story, and most critically, Carbon Monoxide, it tells a story. Without knowing all the scenes in this story you will never achieve maximum performance or safety. We can provide you with the most critical information you need for your heating systems. AMG will offer solutions for problems that most other companies do not even know exist, or how to address them.
Commercial RTU, Boilers, and Residential equipment need to have a combustion analysis. The National Balancing Institute is the industry standard for safety and energy saving performance testing.
ComfortMaxx
A ComfortMaxx Certified System™ helps ensure your heating and cooling equipment is operating at its fullest potential for your investment, and your entire system is working in harmony to deliver the most comfort for your hard-earned dollars.
It's important to understand that a heating and cooling system is much more than just the equipment that reside in and around your building. While manufacturers have made great strides in creating more efficient and reliable equipment, the equipment alone cannot ensure maximum energy efficiency or comfort.
Every component of your HVAC system effects the over-all performance of it's operation. The ductwork, piping, grills & registers, coils, zone dampers & controls, insulation, IAQ (indoor air quality) equipment, and even the installation of your systems, effect how they will perform. American Mechanical Group is qualified, certified and capable of guaranteeing your system will perform as it should.
What This Means For You
Imagine going to the gas station to fill-up your vehicle with fuel. At around $4 a gallon you are aware it is going to cost you about $80 for a 20 gallon fuel tank ,but your fuel bill ends up at $160.00. This is what happens in over 96% of ALL homes in America, even in houses being built today. You ARE paying 100% of your utility bill, but are getting less than 60% of what you are actually paying for. This problem CAN be solved with a ComfortMaxx Certified System.
Indoor Air Quality
While we tend to think of air pollution as an outdoor threat, it can be even worse inside the buildings where we live and work. If you’re concerned about the air inside your home or office- two places where many people do the bulk of their breathing- contact AMG and let one of our skilled technicians evaluate your environment for potential health hazards.
Glycol Testing & Balance
It is very important to use the proper percentage of glycol to water in your system. Not enough glycol could lead to the system freezing up and possibly causing your chiller evaporator to rupture internally. Too much glycol will drastically reduce your chiller systems efficiency. Let AMG help you get the most from your equipment investment.
Performance Audits
A buildings existing mechanical, electrical and control systems can be compromised over the years with the constant challenges of operational and occupancy changes.
Although, today’s building complexes are highly dependent on sophisticated control systems, unless someone is trained in how to monitor and manage their energy use, the systems become a tool that nobody knows how to use.
To ensure your building is operating at its highest level of performance, schedule your Performance Audit today with AMG.
- One of our highly trained technicians will listen and identify the facility manager’s goals and objectives.
- We will complete a thorough walk-through of your facility, while reviewing all existing documentation.
- A compilation and analysis of all data including the preparation of one-line diagrams will be presented.
- Finally, AMG will develop and present recommendations with estimated budgets and payback.
Back-Flow Preventers
Your help is needed to protect the quality of our drinking water.
What is backflow?
Backflow is the undesirable reversal of the directed water flow in any pipeline or plumbing system. Backflow is dangerous because it can allow drinking water in plumbing systems to become contaminated and unusable.
What can we do to prevent this from happening?
Mechanical plumbing devices, called a backflow preventer, are installed in a plumbing system to prevent water from flowing backward in the system. A properly installed, tested and maintained backflow preventer at the service entrance to a building or property can reliably prevent the backflow of hazardous water from flowing back into the community water supply.
It is a requirement of your local City to have an annual Backflow Test completed and submitted for record. Let one of AMG’s Certified Backflow technicians assist you to helping protect the quality of your community’s water supply.
